US-based sub sandwich brand Blimpie and Trinidadian Mario’s Pizzeria chain have revealed plans to open two co-branded restaurants this year.

The flagship Mario’s/Blimpie outlet is situated on the Chaguanas Main Road, and includes a drive-thru window, while the second will open in Trincity Mall by the end of this year.

Richard Hartford, founder of Mario’s and the owner and operator of the 15 Mario’s outlets nationwide, explained that Blimpie’s menu offerings should enhance his pizza enterprise.

“Blimpie has built their reputation on freshness, quality and service – the same values that have made Mario’s a successful endeavour,” said Hartford. “Their menu offers breakfast and lunch selections that will be a perfect complement to Mario’s long-time favourites.”

Jeffrey K. Endervelt, CEO of Blimpie International, added: “Hartford is an ideal partner to introduce Blimpie into Trinidad. He knows his customers and understands his market.
