Announcing the recall yesterday [Thursday], the USDA said that people with allergies or sensitivities to eggs or whey can have adverse reactions to the chicken.
The meat, which was produced on 15 July at Tyson’s Blountsville, Ala. poultry processing plant, was bought by hotels, restaurants and institutions in 10-pound frozen cases bearing the code “1962BLV01-15”.
The chicken was distributed across nine states; Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Washington.
William J. Hudnall, acting administrator of the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), said: “Outlets that serve this type of food should check to see if they received any of the recalled product. Consumers who are allergic to egg or whey should not eat this product.”
