UptimeOne Inc., a total solutions provider (TSP) that leverages e-business strategies and technological expertise to empower businesses in the e-commerce marketplace, today announced the appointments of Thomas Spanier, former chief operating officer (COO) of the California Culinary Academy, as president and COO, and Cathy Curry, former manager of carrier relations at WebTV Networks, as vice president of service delivery.
“We are very excited to have Thomas and Cathy join our executive team,” said Michael Bertrand, founder and CEO, UptimeOne. “Their expertise in their respective industries was exactly what we were looking for to help push us above and beyond who we are now as a company, enabling us to further solidify our identity as a total solutions provider and ultimately, better service our customers.”
Spanier to Lead Vision and Implement Strategy
Spanier brings to UptimeOne more than 30 years of related experience from industries such as food, technology, defense and agriculture. In his new position, Spanier assumes responsibility for growing the company, managing operations and perfecting UptimeOne’s TSP model for the food and beverage industry. He was chosen by UptimeOne because of his strong history with numerous high technology industries in leading, planning and implementing processes for private and public companies, including start-ups, rapid growth and turnaround situations.
Most recently, Spanier was COO of the California Culinary Academy, where he managed operations and new business development. Spanier assisted the company with its initial public offering (IPO) and media and product licensing business initiatives; more recently, he helped develop the e-services and distance learning strategies for the company. Before joining the Academy, Spanier was president, CEO and founder of Sullivan Industries. There he established an international marketing network and closed large contracts with foreign customers. He has also held senior management positions (CEO, CFO) in the manufacturing, marketing services and high technology industries.
Spanier holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School, as well as a bachelor’s degree of science in managerial economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
