Weight Watchers International, the leading global provider of weight-loss services, has announced the election of two new members to its Board of Directors: Sam K. Reed, Vice Chairman of Kellogg Company, and Marsha Johnson Evans, National Executive Director, Girl Scouts of the USA.

Raymond Debbane, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commented: “We are pleased to welcome such proven leaders to the Weight Watchers Board of Directors. Reed, 55, has 27 years of experience in the food industry. He is currently Vice Chairman of Kellogg Company and from 1996 to 2001, he was CEO, president and a director of Keebler Foods Company. Previously he was CEO of Specialty Foods Corporation’s US$450m Western Bakery Group division. He is a Director of Kellogg Company and the Tractor Supply Company. Reed will serve on the Weight Watchers Board’s Audit Committee.


Evans, 54, is a leading expert on helping girls develop into responsible, productive, happy adults with strong values and high ideals. She is currently the CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls. A retired Rear Admiral in the US Navy, Evans has served as superintendent of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and headed the Navy’s worldwide recruiting organization from 1993 to 1995. She is currently on the board of the May Department Stores Company and numerous nonprofit boards. Evans will also serve on the Weight Watchers Board’s Audit Committee.
