Mueller led Wendy’s North America business and the International division.
Mueller joined Wendy’s in 1998 as senior vice president of special projects following a lengthy career at Burger King.
Chairman and CEO Jack Schuessler will assume the president’s role on an interim basis, overseeing Wendy’s operations, marketing, research and development, and other functions, until a replacement is named, the company said.
“We thank Tom for his dedicated service to Wendy’s and wish him all the best in the future,” said Schuessler.
“All of our company employees and franchisees are focused on improving Wendy’s performance,” said Schuessler, “and I will be taking an active day-to-day role in managing the business. We will reinvigorate sales growth with a fanatical approach to execution in the areas of restaurant operations, marketing and R&D.”
