US poultry processor Pilgrim’s Pride has fired 11 workers following an investigation into chicken abuse.

The investigation came after animal rights group PETA released a secretly filmed videotape of poultry slaughterhouse workers jumping on live chickens, kicking them like footballs and hitting chickens against walls.

Three of the disgraced employees were managers at Pilgrim’s Pride’s Moorefield plant, while the other eight were hourly workers. The company supplies chicken to KFC.

KFC president Gregg Dedrick said his company will stop buying from the Moorefield plant until the company can ensure no future abuse will occur. KFC will also place a full-time inspector in the Moorefield plant to watch for further abuse, reported AP.
