Managing director John Gatenby said: "This year we are expanding our premises and installing new equipment which will significantly increase our pie-making capacity, ensuring we are able to meet the growing demand for quality pork pies."

Gatenby said Vale of Mowbray is also increasing its focus on its own brand to "ensure it clearly resonates with consumers and reflects the passion we take in producing Vale of Mowbray products". The group is launching a consumer-facing website and has re-branded its products with a new packaging design. A marketing campaign is planned for later in the year.

"These are major steps forward in meeting our objectives of developing the pork pie category and growing our business for the future."
