Ireland’s Valeo Foods has acquired food and beverage firms Robert Roberts and Kelkin from DCC, an international sales, marketing and distribution group, in a EUR60m (US$75.1m) deal.
Kelkin is a private-label manufacturer and branded distributor of free-from and “healthy” foods. Robert Roberts is an Irish distributor of snacks brands including KP Hula Hoops, Skips, KP Nuts and McCoy’s snacks.
The deal also included Robert Roberts’ subsidiary Findlater Wine & Spirits, a sales, marketing and distribution company in the wine and spirits sector.
In the year ended 31 March 2014, the businesses generated combined revenue of EUR120m.
Tommy Breen, CEO of DCC, said: “Robert Roberts, Findlater Wine & Spirits and Kelkin have a long and successful history in the Irish market and we expect them to continue to grow and develop under Valeo Foods’ ownership.”
A spokesperson for Valeo added: “The businesses complement Valeo Foods’ existing portfolio of consumer food brands, will enhance our presence in the fast growing health and wellness and hot beverage sectors and strengthen our distribution capabilities.”
