US sauce maker Ventura Foods has acquired the sauces and condiments business of Canadian manufacturer Wing’s Foods for an undisclosed sum.
The unit will operate as a stand-alone, fully-owned subsidiary of Ventura. It will be called Ventura Foods Canada and produce a “full range” of condiments, sauces and dressings. Jamie D’Agosta, most recently senior vice president of retail at Ventura Foods, has been named senior vice president and general manager of Ventura Foods Canada. The current Wing’s sauces and condiments senior management team will remain in place.
Ventura said the deal puts it “closer to Canadian consumers” and expands its product offering in the sweet sauce and liquid product categories.
“Wing’s is a great strategic fit for Ventura Foods,” said president and CEO Chris Furman. “Both companies are customer-focused with similar cultures and capabilities, as well as complementary products.”
Wing’s Asian heritage business, including their noodle, wrap and cookie business, is not part of the acquisition. These businesses will continue to operate as Wing’s Food Products. The firm will retain the Wing’s Brand.
