Ajinomoto, the Japan-based food giant, announced today (22 September) that it had set up a seasonings plant in Vietnam.
The company said it had spent JPY1.3bn (US$12.2m) on the facility, which is based in Long Thanh in Vietnam’s Dong Nai province.
The plant, which employs around 240 people, started operations this month and manufactures the Aji-ngon flavour seasoning brand.
Ajinomoto said the market for flavour seasoning in Vietnam was seeing “rapid growth”, with sales growth expected to be in the “double-digits or higher”. The market had doubled in size over the last two years, the company added.
The company has set a target of seeing Aji-ngon becoming the top-selling flavour seasoning product in Vietnam by 2010.
