Sannam, based in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, is building the region’s first industrial campus to use European microbiological technology to produce dried fruits free from chemicals.

Constructed at a cost of VNĐ60bn (US$3.8m), the campus covers an area of 410 hectares in Ky Son district in the northern province of Hoa Binh. Once operational in 2005, it will house plants to produce dried fruits, fruit jams, powder and wine, reports Asia Pulse. Each plant will boast annual production capacity of 5,000 to 10,000 tonnes of fresh fruit.
Some 1,000 workers are expected to be employed at the campus.
Sannam dried fruits are available in a dozen super markets in the north and have become increasingly popular in the northern region. It also exports to other Asian markets and several European countries.
