
Cadbury owner Mondelez International has linked up with online retail giant Amazon in India to set up a virtual chocolate and sweet store.
The strategic partnership is through the firms’ Indian subsidiaries Mondelez India and Amazon.in.
Mondelez International has long held ambitions to grow its e-commerce presence worldwide.
Products such as Cadbury Dairy Milk, Dairy Milk Silk and Bournville will now be available to Indian shoppers on Amazon with the chocolate and sweet store focusing on the gifting sector.
Abhishek Ahluwalia, e-commerce leader at Mondelez India, said: “E-commerce is the fastest-growing channel for our business. As a successful e-commerce giant, Amazon.in is the perfect platform to connect us with more consumers efficiently, which will help us capture consumers’ need”.
“Globally, we have an ambitious target to generate US$1bn in e-commerce revenue by 2020, and we’re focusing our investments strategically on associations that help us develop best in class sales and distribution proficiencies with strong go-to-market capabilities.”
