General Mills has launched what it is calling “guilt-free” smaller versions of the Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars.

The company has introduced the Häagen-Dazs Minis into France and Spain. The products “will be rolled out later in other countries”, it said.

The new mini stick bar is half the size of the full-size stick bar – about 35 grams instead of 70g.

“There is a real consumer need for the minis,” Gäelle Cauchois, Häagen-Dazs brand manager in France, said.

The ice creams are made at General Mills’ plant in the French town of Arras.

Other recent additions to the Häagen-Dazs range in international markets include the launch of a sub-brand, Trio, in the US, where Nestle licences the brand from General Mills.

Nestle said Trio combines “two unique flavours” of Häagen-Dazs and layers of Belgian chocolate. It has developed four lines – coffee vanilla chocolate, triple chocolate, vanilla blackberry chocolate and salted caramel chocolate.
