Canadian grocery retailer Sobeys has announced that its DeBlois retail support centre in West Royalty, Prince Edward Island, will close next year.

The company said the closure will impact 59 full- and part-time employees. Starting next July, wholesale customers in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island will be supplied from the company’s expanded retail support centre in Oromocto, New Brunswick, which currently serves Sobeys stores in the Maritimes. Sobeys has initiated a 75,000-square-foot expansion of the Oromocto facility.

“Improvements and efficiencies in our distribution network allow us to continue to improve service to our customers in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick,” said Mike Scott, president, Sobeys Atlantic Operations.
