French vegetable processor Bonduelle has opened its first plant in Russia in the Krasnodar region.
Bonduelle has invested RUR490m (US$16.8m) in the facility, which has been under construction since June 2003, reported Prime-TASS News.
To begin with, Bonduelle plans to operate a canning line with a capacity of 130 tonnes per day. The line will produce cans of peas and sweet corn sold under the Bonduelle and Vernet brands.
Eventually by 2008 the company plans to operate the plant at full capacity, producing 120 million cans per year.
