US fastfood giant McDonald’s has reported a 3.9% rise in global comparable sales in August, the company’s 16th consecutive monthly increase.
Systemwide sales at all McDonald’s restaurants increased 8.6%, or 4.6% in constant currencies, the company said.
US comparable sales rose 7.2% in August, helped by improved service and new products on the menu.
In Europe, comparable sales slid 0.9%, compared to a 1.0% increase a year earlier. The company said Europe’s August comparable sales were down slightly due to a weak performance in Germany, as well as poor weather and a decline in tourism across the continent.
In the company’s Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa region, August comparable sales edged up 0.9%, compared to a 4.0% decline a year earlier.
