Private-equity firm CVC is understood to not be one of four companies that have submitted a preliminary bid for German frozen cake company Coppenrath & Wiese.

A report carried by Reuters yesterday, citing sources familiar with the matter, said EQT, Cinven, Montagu and CVC had all submitted preliminary bids for the business.

However, just-food understands CVC has not made offer. When asked to comment, CVC refused to be drawn on the situation.

EQT and Cinven declined to comment yesterday. Montagnu officials did not reply to a request for comment.

The deal could fetch around EUR400m (US$472m) according to Reuters’ report.
