Dutch food ingredients company DSM has opened a new state-of-the-art food innovation centre, which will enable the company to accelerate its new product development.

Situated in Delft, the Netherlands, the centre is the result of a €12m (U$14.7m) investment and will be officially opened on 29 June.

DSM said the centre will house the most up-to-date laboratory, kitchen and tasting facilities as well as fully equipped pilot plant applications for cheese, yoghurt, bakery, savoury, beverages, and nutritional ingredients.

“The Food Innovation Center has been conceived from the start to bring increased speed and efficiency to ingredients development and new applications. Customers will benefit from more rapid trial results with reliable and repeatable conclusions. This will ensure that ever-changing market demands can be met in record time,” said Bob Poldermans, director of research and development at DSM Food Specialties.
