ISRAEL: Olive board sees higher 2004 olive oil production
Israel's olive harvest and olive oil production in 2004 is three-times higher than in 2003, according to the general manager of the Olive Board, Amin Salah.
Israel’s olive harvest and olive oil production in 2004 is three-times higher than in 2003, according to the general manager of the Olive Board, Amin Salah.
He added that this year the olive harvest is expected to reach 53,000 tonnes, compared with 12,000 tonnes in 2003, and that this year’s olive oil production would reach 8,000 tonnes.
Some 90% of Israel’s 50,000 acres of olive oil groves are slated for making olive oil; in 2004, ten new olive oil makers joined Israel’s 105 existing olive oil processors.
