Bauermeister has specialised in process engineering for more than 125 years, and is particularly dedicated to the food industry markets and the particle size reducing processes that they require. Bauermeister machines are used throughout the food industry for grinding sugar, spices, lactose and starch, to name just a few of their many applications.

Food grinding equipment

Bauermeister’s food grinding equipment can be used for sugar, cacao, spices, nuts, baking additives, milk powder, gelatine, gypsum, silicon metal powder and limestone, among others. Bauermeister also manufactures a range of industrial grinding equipment that can be used for many different applications, including fertilisers, oil seeds, superabsorbers, cereals and chemical products.

Roll mills

Bauermeister’s Type 250.1 and Type 250.2 roll mills are used to accurately crush brittle to medium-hard products. The Type 250.1 roll mill uses product-specific rolls and works in two crushing stages, while the Type 250.2 can work in variable capacities in up to three crushing stages, using product-specific rolls.

Bauermeister’s Type 250.3 and 350.1 roll mills are for grinding brittle to medium-hard products where a narrow particle size distribution is required with a minimum amount of dust. With the Type 250.3 the continuous monitoring of the roll gap increases the quality of the crushing. The Type 350.1 roll mill is a development of the model 250.1 and is designed for high throughput.

Flaking mills

Flaking mills are used in the oil seed industry to process pre-broken seeds for the downstream extraction process. Bauermeister’s flaking mills ZWG 601, ZWG 703 and ZWG 800 are manufactured using a rigid welded frame. These flaking rolls have a hardness of approximately 530 HV, and the front roll is supported by double swivel-joint roller bearings in such a way that it can pivot to adjust the roll gap.

Universal mills and grinding systems

Bauermeister grinding systems operate successfully in a wide range of applications where grinding of products with a hardness of approximately 4-5 Mohs is required.

Bauermeister universal mills and grinding systems use technology that conforms to the latest safety standards. They offer complete explosion protection and are designed to withstand 10bar explosion pressure in accordance with European Union Directive 94/9.

Bauermeister’s grinding systems have easy-to-change and combinable grinding tools along with variable rotational speeds, high reliability and sturdy mechanical design.

Compact grinding systems

The UCOM compact grinding system is particularly suited to grinding sugar. It conforms to the latest safety standards, offering explosion protection and 10bar pressure shock resistance in accordance with European Union Directive 94/9.

The UCOM compact grinding system is dust-tight, with a compact design and minimal footprint. No extras such as explosion protection valves, fans and filter systems are required, and this system provides low operating and maintenance costs.

Air classifiers

Air classifiers are ideal for tasks that require ultra-fine particle sizes or particle distribution free from coarse material. Bauermeister’s CL series air classifiers offer excellent separation accuracy, gentle classification of sensitive products, and reliable operation with sticky products.

Grinding and classifying plants

Bauermeister grinding and classifying plants are used for the production of superfine powders and dusts with particle sizes down to 10µm and finer. The plant is designed as a closed loop system. The product is ground on a Type UM universal mill, and the downstream classifier ensures that the pre-set maximum particle size is not exceeded and that oversized product is extracted and returned to the mill for subsequent regrinding.

Bauermeister grinding and classifying plants are available in seven different sizes with capacities ranging from 50kg/hr to 6t/hr.

Beater blade mills

The Bauermeister SMM beater blade mill is used to grind products with a high fat content, such as cocoa nibs and hazelnuts. High-speed rotating blades in the grinding chamber break the product down to the required particle size and the high fat content ensures conversion into a pumpable mass.

The maximum capacity of the mills is 3,000kg/hr; the actual rate depends on the type and pre-treatment of the product, as well as its inherent characteristics and the end product fineness that is required.

Laboratory mills for grinding tests

The ease of operation and large quantity of tool combinations of Bauermeister’s laboratory mills makes it possible to run extensive grinding tests in the shortest possible time. Easy access to the grinding chamber and the product bin allows fast and easy cleaning, and very little time is required for tool replacement.

Bauermeister laboratory mills are very flexible and can obtain a fineness between 10µm and a few millimetres, as well as throughput of 0.5kg/hr to 200kg/hr depending on the product.
