US poultry producer Cagle’s has said it has closed the sale of its facility in Perry, Georgia to Perdue Farms.

Salisbury, Maryland-based chicken producer Perdue Farms paid US$45m for the operations, which includes a broiler processing plant in Perry and a feed mill and hatchery in Forsyth, Georgia. Certain inventories were also sold which were in addition to the announced sale price.

J. Douglas Cagle, chairman and CEO of Cagle’s, said that with this divestiture, the company would be smaller in production capacity, but would also be restructured into a more efficient and consistently profitable company.
