Europe is proving a hotspot for Internet of things (IoT) hiring among food manufacturers, according to analysis from GlobalData.

In the three months ending February, the number of roles on offer in Europe made up 49.7% of total IoT jobs, up from 28.4% in the same quarter last year.

That was followed by North America, which saw a 2.6 year-on-year percentage point increase in the IoT roles advertised.

GlobalData tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically. The data and analytics group, Just Food’s parent company, seeks to group key company information by topic to see which companies are best placed to weather the disruptions coming to their industries.

By tracking the themes across job advertisements, GlobalData says it can see which companies are leading the way on specific issues and which are dragging their heels – and importantly where the market is expanding and contracting.

Which countries are seeing the most growth for IoT job ads in the food industry?

The fastest-growing country was France, which accounted for just under 37% for the roles advertised in the three months ending February this year.

 

Which cities are the biggest hubs for IoT workers in the food industry?

Some 35.7% of all food industry IoT roles were advertised in Suresnes (France) during the period. The US city of St. Louis also accounted for the same percentage of open roles. Another US city, Mission, had 8.3% of the jobs advertised.
