The proportion of food manufacturers hiring for robotics-related positions rose slightly in April year-on-year, according to analysis of industry hiring trends.

Some 22.1% of the companies monitored by GlobalData were recruiting for at least one such position last month, the data and analytics group said.

This latest figure was higher than the 20.4% of the manufacturers that were hiring for robotics-related jobs a year ago but a decrease compared to the figure of 23.7% in March.

When looking at all openings in the food industry, robotics job postings made up 0.5% of newly-posted job advertisements were linked to the topic, versus 0.3% in the equivalent month a year ago.

GlobalData says its analysis suggests food manufacturers are hiring for robotics jobs at a rate lower than the average for all companies within the research group’s jobs analytics database. The average among all companies stood at 0.6% in April 2022.
