UK supermarket group Wm Morrison has halted its decline in market share and actually showed a slight increase in the latest period, according to industry data.

The latest TNS Grocery market share figures for the 12 weeks to 9 October 2005, showed that the combined Morrisons/Safeway share edged up to 11.4% from 11.3% in the previous month.
Sainsbury’s continued to show growth, with its share moving up from 15.4% a year ago to 15.6% now.
“If past history is repeated we should see this share move above 16% during Christmas as Sainsbury traditionally does well during this period,” said Edward Garner, communications director of TNS Superpanel.
Asda’s market share was 16.7% in the latest period – down from 16.9% last month and 16.8% a year ago.
