Mexican retailer Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex) has said it expects to open 90 new stores this year, 20 more than it had originally planned.
Walmex, majority owned by US retail titan Wal-Mart, said its new growth plan would mean it has to open 62 stores by the end of the year, reported Reuters.
“The expansion program represents an increase of 14% in installed capacity,” Walmex, already the country’s largest retailer, was quoted by Reuters as saying.
Wal-Mart de Mexico operates 722 stores and restaurants under various banners across Mexico.
