The EU is under pressure from the US and some of the world’s poorest countries to reach a fair trade agreement that would see farm subsidies reduced.

But according to a report on the BBC, Peter Mandelson, EU Trade Commissioner, warned that a new deal on immediate cuts was “not possible”.

Mandelson told assembled press that this round of talks should focus on agreeing a blueprint for reducing subsidies and tariffs next year.
