“Although we’re proud of our strong farm heritage and our farms will remain a vital link in our integrated food system, Seaboard Foods does a better job of reflecting our strategic direction and emphasis on producing premium food products for domestic and international customers,” said Rod Brenneman, president of Seaboard Foods.

The new name follows a recent acquisition of the Daily’s brand and two bacon processing plants in Missoula, Montana and Salt Lake City. In addition to these plants, Seaboard Foods’ integrated food system includes a pork processing plant in Guymon, Oklahoma and pork production operations in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Texas. The company is the third largest pork producer in the United States.

“We continue to look for opportunities to add value to our high-quality, fresh pork that comes from our vertically coordinated pork production system,” said Brenneman. “But we’re so much more than just livestock production. Seaboard Foods represents an integrated food system, where we control the entire process from raising and caring for the animals to producing proprietary animal feeds to using advanced food safety systems in our processing plants. We’re committed to producing high-quality, consistent food products throughout this entire system and Seaboard Foods helps us convey that message.”

In addition to the recent acquisition of the Daily’s brand, Seaboard Foods will market and sell fresh pork products from a new pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri beginning this fall. When the new plant opens, Seaboard Foods will sell and market fresh pork from the two newest and most modern pork processing plants in the United States. Products from the St. Joseph plant will come from an integrated pork production system, just like those from the Guymon plant, creating unsurpassed quality control and food safety throughout the entire system.

“With the recent acquisition and a second plant to open soon, this is the right time for the company name to evolve to Seaboard Foods and to show our commitment to producing value-added food products,” said Brenneman.
