US private-label snack food manufacturer G&S Foods has unveiled plans for a large-scale snack food facility in its home state of Pennsylvania.

Construction has already begun on the 348,344 sq ft site in Hanover, which will replace the firm’s existing facility in Abbottstown, also in Pennsylvania. The new facility is due to come on stream in the middle of next year.

G&S Foods said the new location will allow it to “develop healthier, unique, and
trending snack foods” while continuing to manufacture pretzels, extruded snacks, popcorn, enrobed snacks and pellet snacks such as vegetable chips and straws.

The facility will also provide office space for the company’s sales, operations, and finance teams as well as increased warehousing space.

Daniel Morgan, the company’s president and CEO, said: “We have an amazing workforce at our current Abbottstown facility that will join us in Hanover and we are excited about adding additional talented individuals from this area. G&S Foods will look to create many new jobs after the grand opening.”

G&S Foods, founded in 1996, is a co-packer and private-label manufacturer of salty snacks. Its early growth was aided by the acquisition of TastySnack Quality Foods in 1999.
