Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc has announced that contracts have been exchanged for the final four ‘divestment’ stores required to be sold under the undertakings given to the Office of Fair Trading in December 2003.
The stores are at Coulby Newham (Teeside), Bramley (Leeds), Saltney (near Chester) and Bolton and will be operated by Tesco, Somerfield, United Co-operatives and Netto respectively. Contracts are only conditional on OFT approval.
The OFT told Morrison to sell off the stores after its takeover of Safeway.
