Godshall’s Quality Meats, a US-based turkey bacon producer, has bought a factory from local pork supplier Clemens Food Group.

The plant in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, adds to employee-owned Godshall’s Quality Meats’ three existing sites in the same state – its original facility in Telford where the business was founded by Marvin Godshall in 1945, and two others in Souderton and Lebanon.

The 53,000-square-foot processing plant sits on ten acres and was operated by Clemens Food Group until late last year.

“Our brand is continuing to expand in retail and foodservice. This additional facility will contribute to our growth and product innovation,” the company said in a brief statement posted on LinkedIn.

Godshall’s Quality Meats added the Emmaus factory is “tentatively scheduled to be operational by mid-2024”.

Ron Godshall is the current president of the business, which also produces beef-based smoked bacon, including an Angus steak variety.

The company acquired the Lebanon plant in 2005 as part of its acquisition of meat processor Daniel Weaver Co., according to its website. The plant has recently undergone an expansion, providing 150,000 square feet of floor space. Godshall’s also purchased Kutztown Bologna Company in 2001.

Mr Godshall said: “The new addition of this facility allows us to continue expanding. Geographically, the purchase will provide Godshall’s with three production facilities and a centralised distribution centre all within a two-hour drive of Philadelphia and the north-east corridor,”

Joel Nyce, the senior vice president at Godshall’s Quality Meats, added: “Growth of the Godshall’s brand has been spectacular over the past few years, making it a leader in the turkey and beef bacon categories.

“Adding this facility will allow us to continue bringing new innovation to life similar to the all-natural Angus Beef and Turkey Sausages we launched earlier this year.”
