Finnish retailer Kesko today (Thursday) announced net sales for January-March 2005 of €1.795bn (US$2.32bn), compared with €1.748bn in the same period last year. Profit before taxes was €68.9m, compared with €27.9m a year ago.

Kesko Food Group’s net sales amounted to €871m, an increase of 0.6%. Kesko Food’s operating profit was €54.3m, up from €13.6m. The operating profit was increased by the net result of profits and losses on the disposal of fixed assets and business operations (mainly relating to the disposal of the central warehouse and some retail store premises in January) amounting to €42.2m.
