A sweet factory, owned by Cadbury Schweppes’s Trebor Basset has been devastated by fire, the Reuters news agency reported today (Thursday).

More than 70 firefighters tackled the fire, the agency said, citing a fire brigade spokesman. The factory is in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. No one was injured.


 


“The building is almost completely destroyed,” a spokesman for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said. “We are investigating the cause.”


 


The Monkhill Confectionery factory is part of Trebor Bassett, owned by Cadbury Schweppes, and makes Butterkist brand popcorn as well as a range of sweets.
