Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut has reported a 20.2% rise in operating income (EBIT) to CHF162.4m (US$120.5m) for the September to May period.

The company said net income was up 2.4% to CHF82.4m for the first nine months of its financial year, while sales rose 37.9% to CHF2.76bn. In local currency, sales grew 45% and EBIT rose 26%, the company said.
Barry Callebaut said a full-year operating profit of CHF200m remained realistic despite the tougher market conditions, reported Reuters.
