Shareholders of confectionery manufacturer Hershey have approved a change in its name to The Hershey Company.
“We look forward to opening a new chapter in our history as The Hershey Company,” said Richard H. Lenny, chairman, president and CEO. “This new name reflects our company’s exceptional heritage and is how our consumers and customers best know us. It also conveys Hershey’s promising future as we continue to focus on building momentum in the confectionery and broader snacks markets.”
The company was previously known as Hershey Foods Corporation
Shareholders also approved an increase in the company’s authorized stock.
“The increase in the number of authorized shares will provide Hershey with the flexibility and tools necessary to further support our value-enhancing strategy and build upon the marketplace strength we’ve achieved over the past several years,” Lenny said.
