Bankrupt grocery distributor Fleming has said it has made a preliminary agreement to sell its wholesale grocery business to privately owned C&S Wholesale Grocers.

Fleming, which filed for bankruptcy protection in April, said its Core-Mark convenience business would not be affected by this action, reported Reuters.

The two units are essentially all that remains of Fleming, which was once the largest US food distributor.

Fleming said it expects to file a motion with the US Bankruptcy Court in Delaware to establish procedures for the sale.

The company said that C&S, the third-largest US wholesaler, has agreed to begin supplying Fleming with products for distribution to the company’s retail customers.
