New research supports the theory that organic milk is higher in vitamin E, omega-3 essential fatty acids and antioxidants than conventional milk.

Research led by a team from the Danish Institute of Agricultural Research, which is part of the University of Newcastle’s Quality Low Input Food (QLIF) Congress, was presented at this week’s Soil Association annual conference.

It indicates that organic milk is better for you than non-organic milk, although people can get these nutrients from other dietary sources.

Organic milk was found by the research team to be 50% higher in Vitamin E as well as 75% higher in beta carotene, which the body transforms into Vitamin A. It was also higher in the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthine, as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
