
Switzerland’s IDAK Food Group acquired Italian pizza maker Sorrento Sapori e Tradizioni for an undisclosed sum, the companies announced yesterday (5 May).
Sorrento Sapori is based in Eboli, southern Italy. It manufactures frozen pizza snacks in its own factory and supplies national and international airline caterers, other catering companies and retailers. It employs around 100 staff.
Pizza production will remain unchanged at Sorrento Sapori’s site in Eboli, the companies said.
IDAK Food Group specialises in frozen foods, including pizza products.
“Sorrento Sapori is the ideal strategic fit for our group of companies. With this acquisition, we are significantly expanding and expanding our product portfolio in the pizza and pizza snacks sector. In addition, we see Sorrento Sapori e Tradizioni has a lot of growth potential and want to use it to increase demand from our international clientele,” said IDAK CEO Christof Lehmann.

IDAK owns the Swiss potato-snacks business Kadi, which it acquired in 2019; pizza maker Margherita Spa from Fregona, north-east Italy, acquired in 2020; and, since 2023 confectionery and baked goods maker Romer’s Hausbäckerei.
In February, Römer’s Hausbäckerei acquired fellow Swiss bakery business Kern & Sammet for an undisclosed sum.
IDAK was acquired by London and New York-based investment company TowerBrook Capital Partners in July. Towerbrook bought a majority stake in the business from previous owners Invision and Nord Holding for an undisclosed sum.
In 2024, IDAK employed around 1,200 people and achieved sales of over CHF260m ($315m).
Sorrento Sapori was founded in 2001 by Roberto Savarese, Antonino Esposito and Luigi Apreda. It achieved €33m ($37m) in sales in 2024.
