Swedish supermarket chain ICA today (22 February) said that its board of directors had decided to sell its food supplying unit Menyforetagen AB.

The move is the result of transformation and consolidation of the Swedish restaurant and catering sector, according to a report in Swedish News Digest. The disinvestment will allow ICA to focus on its core retail operations.


ICA has employs 900 and has an annual turnover of SWC4bn ($507m). The company has distribution centres in seven locations and 22,000 clients across Sweden.


ICA is a joint venture, 40% owned by Hakon Invest AB and 60% by Dutch retailer Royal Ahold NV.
