CSM said in a statement that in a move to make processes more simple and roles more transparent, 74 positions across all disciplines in the organisation will ‘disappear’. It also said a large number of middle-management positions will be ‘eliminated’ and sales organisation restructured at the UK unit within the next few months – to focus more strongly on successful product categories.

The company added: “Activities that do not add value will be terminated.”

The statement noted that in the case of forced dismissals the employees involved will be assisted in finding a suitable new job and that the aim of the restructuring is more direct steering of the activities. These measures are made in line with previous announcements as part of CSM’s worldwide 3S programme, with the reorganisation expected to involve costs of GBP2m (US$3.53m).
