HomeGrocer.com today introduced its online service to San Diego, broadening the company’s reach in the important Southern California market.
The San Diego customer fulfillment center is HomeGrocer.com’s eighth operating facility, and its fifth in southern California.
“San Diego has clearly embraced the power of online shopping, and is ranked fifth in the U.S. for home Internet use,” said Mary Alice Taylor, HomeGrocer.com’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We’re delighted to have San Diego as part of the HomeGrocer family, which now includes Seattle; Portland, Ore.; Los Angeles and Orange County, Calif.; and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. We’re focused on turning each of our customer fulfillment centers to profitability within 12 to 15 months of opening, and we’re continuing to expand into new markets with our upcoming opening in Atlanta in June.”
HomeGrocer.com’s tri-temperature delivery trucks, bearing the company’s signature peach logo, initially will deliver to San Diego neighborhoods extending north to Oceanside, east to Alpine, south to Chula Vista and west to Coronado.
“We’re excited about joining the San Diego community, and we’re pleased to be creating more than 300 local jobs,” Taylor said. “HomeGrocer.com now serves communities in the greater southern California area from Los Angeles to the southern border of San Diego, and the customer response to our service has been very gratifying.”
Customers can order a full selection of quality groceries, fresh meats and produce, health and beauty aids, flowers and consumer products through the company’s Web site, www.homegrocer.com, until 11 p.m. and select a 90-minute window for next-day delivery. Specially trained personal shoppers select each item, and friendly delivery professionals deliver the orders directly to customers’ kitchen counters — all at prices that are competitive with those of traditional supermarkets. HomeGrocer.com offers an unconditional 100 percent satisfaction guarantee, which underscores its commitment to customers.
