Californian firm Earthshell has developed biodegradable, hinged and moulded clamshells for food packaging, which are completely made from recycled and reclaimed material.
The company hopes to combat greenhouse gas emissions with the clamshell, which is “new to the world” and is pleased that McDonald’s have agreed to trial the packaging for its Big Macs in 129 restaurants during November.
