JSB Industries has acquired the Fave’Wich crustless sandwich brand from fellow US baker Gold Medal Bakery.
Gold Medal Bakery, a family-owned branded and private-label manufacturer, launched Fave’Wich last year and will continue to produce the bread for the sandwiches for JSB Industries from its 425,000 square-foot facility in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Also located in Massachusetts and operating out of two facilities within the state at Chelsea and Lawrence, JSB Industries plans to shift Fave’Wich from ambient into refrigerated.
The kosher and peanut-free branded and own-label manufacturer trades under the name of Muffin Town and like Gold Medal Bakery supplies retail and foodservice customers.
Scott Anderson, the VP of family-run JSB Industries, said in a statement: “This acquisition represents an exciting step forward for JSB Industries as we continue to advance our strategic objectives including the push for grab-and-go.
“JSB is on a mission to make nut-free healthy snacking fun, convenient, and delicious for kids and families.”
Mr Anderson is one of three sons that now run the business, which was founded in 1978 by their father Jack Anderson.
As well as the Muffin Town brand, which also includes the Smart Choice subline of bakery products, JSB Industries owns the Aesops Bagels and SunWise sandwich brand. They were acquired in 2004 and 2014.
The financial terms for the latest acquisition of Fave’Wich were not disclosed as JSB Industries said the deal will “build on the strength and recognition of the Fave’Wich name, while continuing partnership with Gold Medal Bakery”.
Brian LeComte, the president and COO of Gold Medal Bakery, said: “We found a new home for Fave’wich. Our work will reach new heights, and we are excited to continue supporting Fave’Wich and our long-standing partnership with JSB in this new chapter.
Gold Medal Bakery is a fourth-generation business with origins dating to 1912. Its portfolio features breads, rolls, English muffins, and “speciality baked goods”.
