National Doughnut Week 2000, the nation-wide event supported by High Street Bakeries, has raised a record-breaking amount for Save the Children, the UK’s leading international children’s charity.
At an official presentation to be made at the Baker’s Trade Fair at the Business Design Centre, London on Tuesday 31 October, Master Baker Christopher Freeman and sponsor Arkady Craigmillar will hand over a cheque for £66,000, along with a pledge for the future success of the event.

Says Christopher Freeman
“This year, National Doughnut Week raised more money for Save the Children than ever before- something for bakers across the country to feel truly proud about.
However, as the tenth year of National Doughnut Week approaches, now is the time for all craft bakers to plan how they can help next year’s event, running from 3-10 February 2001, to become the most successful event of its kind ever seen on the Great British High Street.
To help ensure that this aim is realised, National Doughnut Week 2001 will be supported by the January launch of its very own web-site and I will also personally oversee the distribution of registration packs to all those who hope to get involved. With the help of our sponsor, Arkady Craigmillar, bakers across the country can once more go ‘dough-nutty’ for Save the Children!”
