The Ministry to Federal Export Promotion Board (FEPB) has revealed that Pakistan’s fruit export figures have increased threefold since 1995-6. Now reaching a value of Rs4.1bn, the ministry believes export industry growth can be in part attributed to the increasing interest in dry dates, citrus fruits and mangoes.

Plans are afoot to increase the export quota of non-traditional fruits, but the ministry has stressed the need to enforce grading standards for consistent quality if the full potential for the fruit market in the Middle East is to be explored.
