Unilever has completed the restructuring of its UK food business, following its acquisition of US firm Bestfoods last year. Unilever Bestfoods UK will be divided into five business category groups while the Van den Bergh company name will disappear in the UK.

The category divisions under which brands will fall under include: Knorr Savoury; Beverages; Dressings and Local Jewels (Hellmann’s and Marmite); Spreads; and Caterplan (out-of-home and foodservice brands).

Unilever has appointed group directors for each of the divisions who will sit on the Unilever Bestfoods UK board. The chairman of the new business unit in the UK will be Gavin Neath, formerly chairman of Van den Bergh.

Bird’s Eye Walls, Unilever’s UK ice cream and frozen foods operation, will keeps its name and be run as a separate business.
