US grocer Supervalu is to buy eight stores in Wyoming from Albertsons, the company has announced.

The deal is expected to be finalized in January. Supervalu, the third-largest grocer in the US, will run ten stores in Wyoming.

Supervalu said the stores would retain the Albertsons name and become part of the company’s 243 stores in the intermountain West division.

“These are high-performing stores that are well-positioned in their markets,” explained Pete Van Helden, executive vice president, Supervalu Retail West.
