Self-confessed junk food junkie Jai Taurima took home the silver medal for long jump at last year’s Olympics, fuelled by fastfood and chain smoking. This proved too good to be true for the sectors giants, who are now fighting to sponsor the star.

Taurima is in talks with McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Hungry Jacks for a deal which his manager Jason Coorey said could involve some advertising commitments.

Currently recovering from a calf injury, a deal is expected within the next month. Taurima has changed his regime since the games however. Now he smokes only a dozen cigarettes a day and eats junk food once a week.
