German retailer Rewe is looking to open 350 stores at home in a bid to get closer to consumers.
The company said it would expand its network of Rewe and Penny stores into more residential areas.
Rewe said that its research had shown that German consumers were putting “accessibility” above price in their choice of where to shop.
Under the plans, Rewe is planning to open 180 stores under its discount banner, Penny.
