Growing demand for oat-based cereals has encouraged US firm Quaker Oats to expand its manufacturing plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The PepsiCo unit is to invest US$17m into the facility, its largest in North America. The project will start next May and will create a dozen jobs, Quaker Oats said.
“This plant is the largest cereal mill in the world and one of Quaker’s top performing operations,” said Don Chizek, plant manager at the site. “The expansion will extend the foundation for potential future investment in this community.”
