Ministers have told the European Commission to review the EU’s 2004 farm-to-fork food hygiene regulations and look for ways of making the system more user-friendly for small food businesses.
This follows a general assessment by the Commission of the legislation, which concluded the existing system was “to date generally considered appropriate and adequate.”

As a result, the EU Council of Ministers has told the Commission “to investigate if further flexibility could be introduced, especially for small businesses.”
